State Bank of India (SBI) has released the official notification for recruitment to the post of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre. A total of 9,124 vacancies are available, including 7,680 regular vacancies and 1,444 backlog vacancies across 24 States/UTs. The SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026 application process will start on 11 August 2026 and continue until 31 August 2026. ✅ Eligibility Criteria
For SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026, applicants must satisfy the educational qualification, age limit and other conditions prescribed by the State Bank of India. The qualification is considered as on 31 December 2026, while the age is calculated as on 1 April 2026.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
Candidates with an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate must have a passing date on or before 31 December 2026. Candidates who are in the final year or final semester of graduation may apply provisionally, provided they can produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 31 December 2026.
Matriculate Ex-servicemen who have obtained the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education, or the corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force after completing at least 15 years of service in the Armed Forces of the Union, are also eligible, subject to the prescribed date requirement.
Local Language Requirement: Candidates must be proficient in the specified local language of the State/UT for which they apply. Candidates who have studied the specified local language in Class 10 or Class 12 and can produce the relevant mark sheet/certificate may be exempt from the Local Language Proficiency Test.

🎯 Selection Process
The SBI Clerk selection process consists of the Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and, wherever applicable, the Local Language Proficiency Test. Final merit is prepared State-wise and category-wise based on the applicable selection rules.
- Phase-I – Preliminary Examination: 100 questions for 100 marks with a total duration of 1 hour.
- English Language: 30 questions, 30 marks and 20 minutes.
- Numerical Ability: 35 questions, 35 marks and 20 minutes.
- Reasoning Ability: 35 questions, 35 marks and 20 minutes.
- Phase-II – Main Examination: 190 questions for 200 marks with a total duration of 2 hours 40 minutes.
- General/Financial Awareness: 50 questions for 50 marks and 35 minutes.
- General English: 40 questions for 40 marks and 35 minutes.
- Quantitative Aptitude: 50 questions for 50 marks and 45 minutes.
- Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude: 50 questions for 60 marks and 45 minutes.
- Local Language Proficiency Test: Applicable to provisionally selected candidates who have not studied the specified local language in Class 10 or Class 12.
There is negative marking of one-fourth mark for each wrong answer in the objective tests. Preliminary Examination marks are not added to the final merit score. The Main Examination aggregate score is considered for final merit, subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.
For the Preliminary Examination, candidates are shortlisted for the Main Examination based on aggregate marks, subject to the prescribed availability and category-wise shortlisting criteria. SBI will prepare the final merit list State-wise and category-wise.

Candidates should keep the following documents and scanned files ready before submitting the SBI Clerk online application:
- Recent passport-style colour photograph with the prescribed size and file specifications.
- Scanned signature on white paper using black ink.
- Scanned left-hand thumb impression in the prescribed format.
- Hand-written declaration in English as per the format specified by SBI.
- Live photograph captured through webcam or mobile phone during the application process.
- Valid photo identity proof such as Aadhaar, PAN Card, Passport, Driving Licence, Voter's Card or Bank Passbook with photograph for examination purposes.
- Class 10 or Class 12 mark sheet/certificate showing the specified local language, wherever applicable.
- SC/ST certificate, OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate or EWS Income and Asset Certificate, wherever applicable.
- Required discharge certificate for candidates serving in eligible Government, PSU, banking or financial institutions, wherever applicable.

📌 Important Instructions
- Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State/UT under this recruitment.

- Mobile phones, smart watches, calculators and other electronic or communication devices are not permitted inside the examination premises.

💼 SBI Clerk Salary & Service Conditions
The Junior Associate pay scale is ₹24,050-1,340/3-28,070-1,650/3-33,020-2,000/4-41,020-2,340/7-57,400-4,400/1-61,800-2,680/1-64,480. The starting Basic Pay for a graduate Junior Associate is ₹26,730, including two advance increments admissible to graduates.
According to the notification, the total starting emoluments of a Clerical Cadre employee posted in a metro such as Mumbai will be around ₹46,000 per month, inclusive of applicable Dearness Allowance, other allowances and the additional increments for newly recruited graduate Junior Associates. Actual allowances vary according to the place of posting.
Newly recruited Junior Associates have a minimum probation period of six months. Inter-circle or inter-state transfer is generally not available before completion of five years of service, subject to the exceptional conditions specified by SBI.
