✅ Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for RRB JE Recruitment 2026 depends on the post and the prescribed technical discipline. Candidates must possess the required qualification by the closing date of the application. Candidates awaiting final results of the required qualification are not eligible.
Junior Engineer (JE)
For Junior Engineer categories, candidates must possess a three-year Diploma in Engineering or the prescribed combination of sub-streams in the discipline mapped to the relevant post. Higher qualifications such as B.E. or B.Tech in the same discipline are also acceptable as specified in the notification.
Depot Material Superintendent (DMS)
For Depot Material Superintendent, candidates must possess a three-year Diploma in Engineering in any discipline from a recognized University or Institution. Higher qualifications such as B.E. or B.Tech are also acceptable.

A candidate holding more than one minimum educational qualification mapped to different Exam Groups can choose only one Exam Group and must select posts whose qualification is mapped to that group. DMS candidates whose diploma discipline is not included in the specified mapping must choose one of the listed Exam Groups while registering.
Citizenship
The notification permits eligible applicants who are citizens of India, citizens of Nepal, subjects of Bhutan, or specified persons of Indian origin who have migrated from the countries and circumstances mentioned in the official CEN, subject to the applicable certificate of eligibility from the Government of India.

🎯 Selection Process
The RRB JE Recruitment 2026 selection process consists of Computer Based Tests followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination. The 1st Stage CBT is screening in nature, while the 2nd Stage CBT is discipline-specific and plays the key role in merit and subsequent shortlisting.
- 1st Stage CBT: 100 questions and 100 marks covering Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness and General Science. Duration is 90 minutes, or 120 minutes for eligible candidates using a scribe.
- 2nd Stage CBT: 150 questions and 150 marks covering General Awareness, Physics & Chemistry, Basics of Computers & Applications, Basics of Environment & Pollution Control and Technical Abilities.
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark is deducted for every wrong answer in both CBT stages.
- Qualifying Marks: UR & EWS 40%, OBC-NCL & SC 30%, and ST 25%. The specified relaxation for PwBD candidates may apply in case of shortage against reserved vacancies.
- Shortlisting: The normalized score of the 1st Stage CBT is used for shortlisting to the 2nd Stage CBT at 15 times the community-wise vacancy for each RRB.
- Document Verification: Candidates are called based on merit and options in the 2nd Stage CBT, with the number of candidates called equal to the number of vacancies.
- Medical Examination: Candidates undergo the applicable post-specific medical standard. A candidate found medically unfit for the opted post is not offered an alternative appointment.

📄 Required Documents
Candidates should keep the following documents and information ready before completing the RRB JE online application:
- Original Diploma/Degree certificates and mark sheets, along with two sets of self-attested photocopies.
- Matriculation/SSC/SSLC certificate as proof of date of birth.
- Applicable SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/EBC category certificate in the prescribed format.

✍️ How to Apply
- Visit the official RRB application portal and open the application link for CEN No. 04/2026.
- Create an Account using a valid personal mobile number and email ID. These details cannot be changed later. Candidates with existing RRB credentials may use their previous account where permitted.
- Optionally authenticate identity using DigiLocker/Aadhaar during account creation for smoother verification at later stages.
- Select only one RRB and provide the required order of preference for Railway Zones/Production Units and eligible posts.
- Enter personal, educational and other required information and select the appropriate examination medium and Exam Group.
- Capture a live photograph through the application module. Pre-existing photographs are not accepted for this step.
- Upload the signature in JPG/JPEG format within the specified size requirement of 30–49 KB.
- SC/ST candidates seeking the free train travel pass should upload the required SC/ST certificate in PDF format under 400 KB.

- Submit the application and save the Registration Number and submitted application details for future reference.
