✅ Eligibility Criteria
The educational qualification differs according to the trade and whether the candidate is applying under the Freshers or Ex-ITI category. Candidates with higher qualifications such as Degree, Diploma, Engineering Degree or Course Completed Act Apprentices are not eligible for this Act Apprenticeship, except for MLT where Class 12th/HSC is prescribed.
Ex-ITI Candidates
- Fitter, Electrician and Machinist: Class 10th with minimum 50% marks and Science & Mathematics under 10+2 or equivalent, along with National Trade Certificate (NCVT/SCVT) of one year or above in the relevant notified trade.
- Carpenter, Painter and Welder: Class 10th with minimum 50% marks under 10+2 or equivalent, along with National Trade Certificate (NCVT/SCVT) of one year or above in the relevant trade.
- PASAA: Class 10th with minimum 50% marks along with a one-year or above NCVT/SCVT certificate in IT/Computer Operator & Programming Assistant, Database System Assistant or Software Testing Assistant.
Freshers
- Fitter, Electrician and Machinist: Class 10th with minimum 50% aggregate marks with Science & Mathematics under 10+2 or equivalent.
- Carpenter and Painter: Class 10th with minimum 50% aggregate marks under 10+2 or equivalent.
- Welder: Class 10th with minimum 50% aggregate marks under 10+2 or equivalent.
- MLT (Radiology & Pathology): Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Biology under 10+2.
Other Eligibility Conditions
- Applicants must be resident and/or registered with a local Employment Exchange within Tamil Nadu, with the registration date not beyond the application closing date, except wards of Railway employees.
- Wards of Railway employees must submit the prescribed Railway employee Identity Card/Service Certificate, UMID card and PPO copy as applicable.
- PwBD candidates must meet the prescribed disability requirements and submit the required disability certificate issued by the competent Central/State Government authority.

🎯 Selection Process
Selection for ICF Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 is based on merit rather than a separate written examination. The merit list is prepared using marks obtained in Class 10th, with specific provisions for candidates who passed Class 10th during the COVID period.
- Merit list based on marks obtained in Class 10th.
- For COVID-pass candidates, the prescribed Class 9th marksheet or Class 10th half-yearly marksheet may be considered as specified.
- In case of equal marks, the older candidate is preferred. If dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed Class 10th earlier is considered first.
- Freshers exercise trade options, and trade allotment is made according to merit and vacancy availability.
- Ex-ITI candidates are trained in the trade for which they possess the relevant ITI certificate.
- Selected candidates must satisfy the prescribed medical fitness requirements and produce the required Medical Certificate during Document Verification.
- Selected candidates must execute the apprenticeship contract as prescribed.
