CPCB Recruitment 2026 has been announced by the Central Pollution Control Board for 51 contractual vacancies under the Strengthening of Environmental Regulators (SER)-Phase-III Project on River Ganga. ✅ Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for CPCB Recruitment 2026 is post-specific. Candidates must possess the required qualification and experience by the closing date of application, 07 September 2026. Final-year candidates and applicants awaiting final semester results are not eligible.
Scientist-D – 01 Post
First Class Master's degree in Environmental Science or Natural Science, or First Class Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology in Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Energy and Environment or Biotechnology, along with the specified publication or technical-report requirements. A minimum of 7 years of relevant practical experience in river pollution, industrial pollution, sewage management or environmental management is required.
Scientist-C – 08 Posts
The required First Class Master's or Engineering/Technology qualification is accompanied by the specified publication or technical-report requirements and at least 5 years of relevant practical experience in the relevant environmental field.
Scientist-B – 12 Posts
First Class Master's degree in Environmental Science or Natural Science, or First Class Bachelor's degree in the specified Engineering/Technology disciplines, along with a valid GATE score of 90% or above percentile or NET-JRF qualification. Three years of relevant experience is required. Relevant research or teaching experience may also be considered.
Assistant Manager (Finance) – 03 Posts
First Class Master's Degree in Commerce with Finance & Accounting or Taxation, or Chartered Accountant qualification, or MBA in Finance & Accounting. The post requires 8 years of post-qualification experience, including relevant accounting, taxation, computer and office software experience.
Administrative Assistant – 01 Post
First Class Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or equivalent with working knowledge of computers. A First Class Post-Graduation degree is desirable. Minimum 5 years of post-qualification administrative experience is required, along with a skill test based on noting and drafting.
Scientific Assistant – 13 Posts
First Class Master's degree in Environmental Science or Natural Science, or First Class Bachelor's degree in the specified Engineering/Technology disciplines, along with a valid GATE score of 90% or above percentile or NET-JRF qualification.
Taxonomist – 01 Post
First Class M.Sc. is required. A Master's degree in Botany or Zoology with minimum 75% marks is desirable. Candidates must also have a valid GATE score of 90% or above percentile or NET-JRF qualification and meet the specified publication or technical-report requirements.
Data Entry Operator – 04 Posts
First Class Bachelor's Degree in Science or BCA. Candidates must pass a skill test in MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with English typing speed of 45 words per minute and Hindi typing speed of 35 words per minute on computer.
Field Assistant – 08 Posts
Passed 10+2 in Science with minimum 55% marks. Knowledge of water or wastewater sampling and sample preservation is required.
Full-time regular qualifying degrees must be from recognized Indian Universities or Institutes. Candidates must have obtained the required degree or a valid provisional certificate by the closing date. The period spent acquiring a Ph.D. is not counted as experience.

🎯 Selection Process
The CPCB Recruitment 2026 selection process is based on document verification, screening and interview. If applications are received in large numbers, CPCB may shortlist candidates using a written examination, percentage of marks, desirable qualification, relevant experience, higher qualification or another screening criterion decided by the Selection/Screening Committee.
